What each room gets

Living room. Two dimmable circuits, one keypad on the main light and an in-line dimmer hidden on the second layer, plus a Pico beside the sofa.

Kitchen and dining. Two dimmable circuits on the same pattern, one keypad and a Pico where you actually stand.

Hall. One switched circuit on a hidden relay, and the scene keypad at the front door firing whole-floor scenes on the way in and the way out.

Five circuits in total, four dimming and one switching. The keypad goes on the main light, the in-line dimmer hides on the second layer, the relay hides at the hall load. The wall shows keypads, never modules.

How the wireless system works

RadioRA 3 runs on Clear Connect Type X, which is a mesh. Each mains-powered device needs two others within roughly 8 metres, and everything sits within roughly 23 metres of the processor, so place it centrally. This pack has six mains-powered devices, which is comfortable across a normal ground floor. Picos are battery powered and do not act as mesh nodes. A long or heavily divided plan is worth laying out before ordering.

What is not included

Installation, programming and commissioning are quoted separately. RadioRA 3 has to be commissioned by a certified Lutron installer, so this is not a self-install product. The processor supplied runs from a mains adapter rather than PoE, because most Irish homes have no PoE switch.

Where it goes next

The first floor is added a room at a time on the same processor, with no new Designer project and no second commissioning setup. Open-plan kitchen and dining often wants a third dimmable circuit, added as a single line. After lighting, the usual order is Lutron Triathlon battery blinds, then Sivoia QS wireless shading where wiring already exists, then extra Picos, then a service plan.
