Passive Infrared Occupancy Sensing
PIR sensors utilize a highly sensitive lens to divide the field-of-view into sensor zones. When a person enters or exits a zone, the sensor detects the motion and switches the lights on. The lights remain on as long as motion is detected. PIR sensing provides dependable motion detection and superior immunity to false triggers from vibrations, inanimate objects, or adjacent corridor movements. Sensitivity is adjustable for optimal performance.
Walk-Through Mode
This sensor detects momentary occupancy and automatically turns the lights off after 90 seconds, reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
Grace Occupancy Feature
When the lights turn off in a room programmed to vacancy-only mode, a 15-second grace period starts during which the room lights can be turned on again by simply waving a hand to trigger the sensor.
Ambient Light Recognition
A built-in photosensor detects the amount of ambient light in the room. When enabled, the photosensor can override the occupancy sensor’s signal to turn on the lights if the ambient light level is above a set threshold. This prevents lights from turning on when there is sufficient daylight and supports daylight harvesting and dimming.
Versatile Installation
The GLS-OIR-C-CN achieves a nearly hidden appearance when installed on drywall or drop tile ceilings. Hardware is included for fast and simple mounting in a standard 4-inch octagon box or in a hole created with the provided cutout template. The sensor includes a built-in Cresnet connection for data and power and an input for an optional external photosensor. The 5-pin Cresnet connector is detachable for easy wiring.
Cresnet
The GLS-OIR-C-CN uses the reliable Cresnet wired network for communication. Cresnet provides a simple solution for configuring and wiring keypads and sensors as part of a complete Crestron system. It serves as the communications backbone for Crestron lighting dimmers, keypads, shades, thermostats, and other devices, offering data communications and 24VDC power for all devices on the network.
IR Remote
The GLS-OIR-C-CN can be configured using the GLS-REMOTE-ODT/OIR remote (sold separately), eliminating the need for a ladder during setup. The installer can stand underneath the sensor and use the remote to adjust settings such as sensitivity, walk-through mode, timeout features, LED status, and Cresnet ID.
